Review for Unbridled Sanctuary, Greenville, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars   Featured Review

I will never forget the text I received from Susan Kayne, Founder of Unbridled Sanctuary, on October 23, 2023. There was a mule in a kill pen that needed to be rescued and he needed a name. What Susan did not know at the time was my Uncle Arnold had died that day.
I told Susan I would think about her offer and get back to her. I was already a sponsor for several of the horses rescued and living at Unbridled and was not sure about a mule. I spoke to my sister and my cousin and we decided that since my Uncle Arnold could be as stubborn as a mule at times we would sponsor this mule and call him Arnie. My Uncle would be amused but also honored as we were in our final decision.
It has been almost a year now since that text and a lot has happened. Arnie has a rock star like following with over 5000 friends and over 2000 followers on his own Facebook page. His life at Unbridled Sanctuary is being chronicled almost daily with pictures and or videos for all to see. He has his own YouTube channel as well.
I am now known as M.O.M. (Mother of Mule) as I keep his FB current with Arnie’s adventures. His life would have ended last year as he was starved, showed signs of physical abuse, and his back hooves were so damaged he had great difficulty in walking. Unbridled Sanctuary stepped in and rescued this poor mule. Through tremendous love and comfort care Arnie has rebounded and is thriving. One note to mention is Arnie showed signs of abuse so badly he was afraid to eat when people were around. Susan Kayne and all the volunteers at Unbridled Sanctuary have patiently provided for Arnie’s needs and he makes regular progress as seen on his Facebook.
I have seen first hand what my contributions and sponsorships have been able to provide for the horses, donkeys and mules. Yes! Two more white Molly mules have been saved making a total of three mules.
I thoroughly researched Unbridled Sanctuary as so many donations to animal rescues go toward administrative salaries instead of the animals they claim to be saving. I can 100% say my monies go to the equine and their care. Susan Kayne has an open book policy and that includes the financials which I reviewed. There is tremendous community involvement and educational programs for children and adults. One of my favorites are the Open Houses and Read to the Rescues. My grandchildren absolutely love picking out books and then reading them to the horses, donkeys and of course Arnie the Mule.
I can and will continue to support Unbridled Sanctuary and can assure anyone else they can and will make a difference in the life of any of the rescued equine with their donations.
