My Nonprofit Reviews

I am an alumnus of the SCSJ and the Border Awareness Experience program offered at WInC and now currently attending medical school. The experience I had with WInC and at the border is one I reflect on often. I didn't think I would after I returned home, but there are many lessons I learned that week that I realized pushed me towards my dream of helping others and I constantly look at as guidance. While learning about immigration and life at the border and its effects nationally, what sets this experience apart from my other SCSJ trips is the people we met.

Saif and Mary, you all are forever in my heart. Spending time with both of you taught me a lot about giving but also about myself. You allowed me to be very open with you all and I appreciated all of your honesty. Between making our entire group feel comfortable and part of the family at WInC, all the jokes, sing alongs, special places Saif shared with us in his city, you created an experience unlike any other. I look forward to sharing the lessons you shared with me unto others and want you to know that I think about you all when I pursue my dream of healing others and hopefully to bring others to assist in the medical needs of the borderland in the near future.
