I have been a lender at KIVA for many years. In all of that time, I have had only a few loans that the lenders did not pay back (less than 5). I love that I can choose the country and the reason for the loan--auto repair in Ukraine, fruit farm in Ecuador, water purification in Uganda, a bakery in Tennessee, etc. I love seeing the photos of the people asking for the loans and reading a bit about them. Mostly, I love the fact that I--a person who is not wealthy--can still provide help for people all around the world. When I get a bunch of repayments back at the same time (meaning I can loan to more folks), it is like Christmas for me. The site is professional and easy to use, and I know my money is going to help folks because of the updates I get.
