My name is Kailyn and I was a semi-professional skier. I got injured at the age of 15 and my life changed permanently. Being in a wheelchair is not something you hear positive information about, I was terrified when I was forced into this new community where I thought I had lost everything. Eight years later, High Fives has done more than just fund activities but has also opened doors for me that I would have never been able to accomplish on my own. Realistically, being in a wheelchair is expensive, also something nobody ever talks about. It is because of High Fives that I am able to be on the mountain again but also have an entire community who has also benefited from High Fives. I will be forever grateful for their team but also the impact they will forever have in my life.
