Review for Cancer Schmancer Foundation, Malibu, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am the sister of a cancer survivor. When my sister was diagnosed, I learned that there were no early tests for Ovarian Cancer. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I questioned my doctors, I called the onocology department of my local hospital. Everywhere I was met with the same response - there are no early tests for Ovarian Cancer. Talking with my friends, many of them were surprised to hear the same information. Can you imagine how horrible it is to realize a whole community of people without information? We sit at the brink of an information revolution and there is no info out there unless you are like me and have to learn about cancer because someone you love is diagnosed. Cancer Schmancer is the only organization that I have been able to find that addresses the issue of early testing for all cancers. When early testing is figured out, everyone in our communities will benefit; women, men and children alike.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Advocacy for government support for research to create early testing techniques for cancer.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Encouragement to stay informed and be a part of the education process regarding cancer.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Every time I have called or emailed with questions, I have always received the information or direction needed to get information promptly.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Open a couple of other charter offices in the mid-west and west, create an education program about cancer awareness through local non-profit clinics and schools, create an annual fund raising program to help fund continued research for early testing

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2007

Role:  General Member of the Public & I continue to participate in local fundraising events and educational workshops.
