Review for K9s For Warriors, Ponte Vedra, FL, USA
I have a unique perspective with K9 for Warriors. I'm a father whose son seeked out K9's for Warriors for help. I've experienced first hand the blessing it has been for my son. We're so proud of our sons service in the military and his service to country. However it left scars and not the ones you can see. When he was discharged and trying to assimilate back into life home, we noticed a significant change. Psychologically he wasn't himself. Public places made him feel anxious, he had large mood swings and emotionally he was on edge. The VA diagnosed it as PTSD. This part of the story is all to familiar for veterans because many doctors treat PTSD with drugs to mask the symptoms. And like most, it goes on for years and creates more problems than it does solutions. Not happy, my Son found K9's and educated us on the progress these pets provided veterans. At first I was skeptical but then I thought of all the service animals that have helped people who are blind or have physical handicaps and I thought why not psychological? My son was so excited when he got the news, , he was on the list and he was next in line to get his service dog. In his eyes it took forever but once he received his companion, he knew it was worth the wait. From the day he was united with his canine warrior to today the change in his attitude, emotions, self worth and those who mean so much to him was life altering. He was excited about the future and felt the best had yet to come. As parents we started to see greatness again where dreams, goals and aspirations were topic of conversations regularly. I'm convinced it's because of the 6 sense his warrior canine has, recognizing those things that upset him and helping him through them by always being there. I hope this story may help another veteran or parent who's seeking help for their loved one. K9's for Warriors was an answer to prayers. May they continued to be blessed.
