I have worked at several social services in the mental health profession, before and after the pandemic, and I truly have never been in an environment like Above and Beyond. I do not give the 5 stars lightly!!! Above and Beyond is the most structured and the most ethical agency that I've worked at. I would say it is perhaps the best example of community mental health in the Chicago-land area. It's a warm and welcoming environment, it truly holds to the harm-reduction model, and it is the most supportive institution (for both staff and clients) that I have ever participated in. When I show up to work here it does not feel like I'm working, and I've received lots of support on many different levels -- from learning how to council, to do case management, facilitate group therapy, and continuing to learn and practice trauma informed care, I'm immensely grateful for the support I've received from senior staff because it has made learning so much more efficient! Not to mention that we have our own food pantry! So we always have snacks for clients and staff on hand. I absolutely adore my colleagues, I'm so grateful for the diversity in staff for this truly speaks to the collaborative environment we all share. Also, we practice a variety of therapy modalities, so you certainly will find something that works for you, and clients will certainly find a modality that best fits their treatment. Lastly I would like to mention that our clients are the best and they are such a joy to work with! AnB has a direct impact on its clients and this is very evident! Best place to be, best place to work.
