Review for Hail Mary Rescue, Thibodaux, LA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I had a dog-shaped hole in my heart, and Hail Mary Rescue had a sweet pup to fill it! Lil "BellaAnn" had been abandoned in a box with a hole, at 12 lbs. Hail Mary Rescue brought her from animal control, into a safe comfortable home and vetted her, including with other dogs and kitties. (Note: They post videos on their site when they rescue pups and if the progress of those requiring extra socialization, training. BellaAnn did not. ) She stayed at the home of a volunteer, and was sent in air conditioned van (with papers documenting her spaying and vaccinations and exams) to a lovely foster home on a beautiful farm in Virginia. When we got her at 14+ lbs, meeting the wonderful foster person at a halfway point between our homes, we were provided with leash, harness, food and a crate, plus hard-copy and electronic papers! She slept well, and quickly adjusted to our two cats and a new routine. And Hail Mary Rescue regularly checked in.
Our family was blessed to get her. She is my "fitness coach", getting me out of the house in the morning and throughout the day on walks and adventures, tripling+ my exercise and de-couch/potato-ing me, and bringing mutual smiles to everyone in the family. Our sweet spotted lil doggie is gentle and sweet, and my young grandkids adore her. She loves to learn, eating at various times with different puzzle boxes, can "sit", jump "up", "circle", "reverse", "lie down"... We play fetch in the yard, she loves her squeaky toys, and snuggling on the bed, and eagerly flops in her crate to sleep at night. She is a loving delight who enjoys socializing with other dogs, and cries excitedly until they can meet, and has befriended several that the owners said were "normally not good with other dogs, preferring people", and loves to meet children and amenable adults, long walks, running, chasing leaves, chasing squirrels (she gets excited and they run up trees.)
It is tough to think about where she (and I) would be without Hail Mary Rescue. They are a wonderful organization doing good work, helping abandoned and mistreated animals have new happy lives.
