As a volunteer with the WHC I've seen first hand the high level of commitment, care and devotion many members are giving to the unowned horse community. Specifically impressive is the orphan foal care which goes 24/7 until weaning.

The bigger picture is humane population control which is being achieved by inoculations administered to prevent pregnancy. There are training requirements, equipment expenses and inoculation costs that add up. This is not an inexpensive or easy endeavor. As an Equine Veterinarian for 40+ years I assure you the WHC people I've worked with are very competent.
