It is difficult to put into words the impact Camp CAMP has had on my life. I started out volunteering back in 2011 when I was an incoming Junior in high school. CAMP sparked my love of the disability community and interest in special education, and I ended up majoring in special ed when it was time to attend college. I just completed my sixth year teaching in Special Education and the skills I have gained from CAMP have helped me tremendously in my career. The friends I have made there are also some of my closest today. This past summer, two of my former students traveled all the way from Boston to attend summer camp for the first time at Camp CAMP. It was their first time away from home without their parents. It was an amazing experience for them, and also a great chance for me to go out the same week and volunteer! My heart was so full seeing my students having so much fun, being independent, and making lots of new friends. I am very grateful to CAMP and proud to be a part of the Camp CAMP community. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to campers, counselors, and parents of campers considering sending their child.
