Review for Big Apple Greeter, New York, NY, USA
I am a german travel journalist writing guide books and travelstories for major german travel magazines from around the world. Every time I am lucky enough to be in New York City for some days I try to meet a Big Apple Greeter to get to know those parts of the City that are out of the general focus of tourism. And each and every time I do not only have a great day and get to learn a lot of unknown places but also get to know wonderful people - always a great experience, uncomparable to any other experience I had in other cities.
Last time - only several weeks ago - I spent my day with "my" wonderful greeter in Queens and I discovered a whole new, multiethnical universe! We visited places of many different cultures, had lunch in a Hindu temple that I would have never ever discovered by my own and we ended up - after miles and miles of walking - at the famous Lemon King, a place I had read about in an NYTimes-article. "My" greeter was not only knowledgable and charming but also incredible thoughtful, gave me brochures and maps, and even a raincoat when it started pouring down! A day I will never forget. And the adventures we had I will use extensivly for the update of my New York City Guidebook. So hopefully lots of readers will discover what my Greeter showed me - a long lasting effort of a bright and memorable day. Thank you Fred!!!
