Review for Wells Bring Hope, Los Angeles, CA, USA
I'm impressed by how much Wells Bring Hope accomplishes with its small volunteer force and one paid employee. By raising funds to build sustainable wells in Niger (one of the poorest countries in the world) we help provide clean, safe water for drinking, cooking, hygiene, and crops. Nigeriens are healthier as a result. Girls have more opportunity to attend school because they aren't walking hours to collect water. We also help women launch small businesses that help them support their families. Our work is truly transformative!
Review for Wells Bring Hope, Los Angeles, CA, USA
For several years, I've volunteered with Wells Bring Hope, a volunteer-run organization. We were founded 15 years ago to help people in rural Niger, one of the poorest countries in the world, access safe, clean water by drilling solar-powered, mechanized wells.
We have funded 776 village water projects and 5 solar water systems for health clinics. Ready access to safe, clean water improves health and hygiene for Nigeriens. Local wells also eliminate the need for girls and women to walk hours to collect fresh water. Consequently, girls can now attend school and women can start small businesses. Villagers are taught how to maintain the wells and village taps so the people can be self-sufficient. I'm proud to be part of an organization that accomplishes so much!
