Review for Florida Rescue Ranch Inc, Vero Beach, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I first became of Florida Rescue Ranch through an online positive reinforcement horse training group. Cara Woods, the director of FRR, was teaching one of the rescue horses, Red, to paint using positive reinforcement, aka "clicker training". We all enjoyed watching her communicate with Red. He obviously adored her and loved his training. Her goal was to have Red use his painting skills in various fundraising activities for FRR, and he did indeed learn how to paint! His creations have become quite popular. It was through the group that I became aware of just how many animals she and her amazing crew have helped. Horses, yes, but also donkeys, cattle, goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, dogs, exotics....and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. There seems to be room for all at FRR. I have witnessed first-hand her amazing, affirming spirit and her unconditional love for animals. She is tireless, working long, grueling hours, yet remains unfailingly positive and upbeat. Earlier this year I had a serious health crisis and had to make the extremely difficult decision to re-home my beloved TWH, Shawnee. I never imagined in a million years that I'd need to ask Cara for help, but I did and she graciously accepted him despite having many, many mouths to feed. I knew that Shawnee would have an amazing home with Cara at FRR, and he is thriving. Despite an extremely busy schedule she drove several hours to my home to pick him up, sparing me the long trip for which I will be eternally grateful. But this is who she is, frequently driving many miles to help an animal in need. She updates me regularly with photos and videos, and has made a devastating life event bearable for me. Florida Rescue Ranch is beautiful, and all of the animals are pampered with the best veterinary services, food and most of all, love. They are given the chance to blossom in her care. It is truly a paradise for the animals who live there. Cara Woods is a treasure, a remarkable human being doing hard, hard work. I am humbled and privileged to know her. Florida Rescue Ranch is a shining example of what all rescues should look like.
