Review for Udayan Care, New Delhi, , India
I am grateful to Udayan Care, an ECOSOC Accredited NGO with its branch office based at Kurukshetra for giving me an opportunity of legal internship (Juvenile Justice) for a total of 105 hours from September 16 - 30, 2023. My primary objective to act as a legal intern (Juvenile Justice) under Udayan Care Home for Girls (Udyan Ghar), Kurukshetra was to enhance my understanding of the application of principles of juvenile justice in practice.
I witnessed that Udayan Care (NGO) is effectively contributing to social justice, juvenile justice & women empowerment through their flagship programmes. This experience of legal internship at an established Non -Governmental Organization has been very insightful and comprehensive. I learnt a lot interacting with children facing adversities in life. I understood the myriad issues that affect the lifestyle, education, personality development and choices for career advancement of children living under uncertainties. The initiatives of Udayan Care for education and skill development of children from weaker/underprivileged sections of society is praiseworthy. Even children with learning difficulties are provided with remedial sessions.
It was a delight to see that at least few children are being rescued from the wicked eyes of this cruel world and efforts are being made to fulfil their basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, education, healthcare and skill development in tune with the mandate of district child welfare committee and National Policies for protection of children from any forms of abuse.
I am especially thankful to Professor Sushama Sharma, Convener (In-charge) of Udayan Care Home for Girls, Kurukshetra for guiding me throughout the course of internship. Thank you so much to one and all for this support and contribution in my educational endeavours as a student of law. I hope that through this internship, I could also create a positive impression on the minds of all those children, whom I taught and interacted with. I hope at least few of them would opt for law as a career option in future.
