I am a volunteer, but was also a client!

Giant Steps is a family of caring, hard working management, staff, volunteers, clients, and horses. I've been volunteering with Giant Steps since 2021. The attention to detail expresses the ideal that our clients' needs drive all that we do. It is such a challenging task given the enormous diversity of clients' needs. Consider, too, that there are (on average) about 14 horses that require full-time care so that they, too, can be healthy and give their best to each client. There is tremendous forethought and planning (as well as the occasionally necessary spontaneity & improvisation with tremendous collegiality and teamwork) every day, for every class, for every client, AS WELL AS for every volunteer. In my 2.5 years with Giant Steps, there is always an open and invited sharing of opinions and recommendations and, therefore, growth. Because of all the aforementioned qualities, and more, Giant Steps is a STANDOUT in the world of nonprofits.

After volunteering for about 6 months, I became a client for about 6 months starting in late in 2021-2022. The Giant Steps team helped me re-develop my spinal & core strength to the degree that I have been back to riding horses on the flat and over fences twice a week since May of 2022, after a decades of back problems! I've been on ALL sides of the wonders of Giant Steps, a nonprofit that gives hope, strength and resilience to all who participate! Thank you, Giant Steps!!
