Review for Project Hawai'i, Inc., Kea'au, HI, USA
I was honored to be a volunteer and contribute to the teen mentoring workshops this year with Project Hawai’i, Inc.
I was invited to host a workshop, which turned into a lifelong memory to fill my heart. Working with the Project Hawai’i, Inc. team of volunteers is definitely an eye opener to what is all involved with their programs and getting everything lined up for the homeless teens.
As a workshop facilitator I was supposed to conduct a 2-3 hour workshop with the girls on learning about our inner voice, how to communicate our emotions and just relate in a healthy manner. This workshop led to so much more! I saw this group needed so much help, as people didn’t show up for their chosen slot, others backed out of meals and donations.
I was so grateful to be able to fill in and make a difference when I could and help the group.
When working with the girls and sharing their stories and their reasons for being in the program I was able to learn so much about why Magin does what she does. Tirelessly working on creating opportunities for the girls to learn. Constantly dealing with the community let downs and never giving up on her vision.
If you are ever thinking of becoming a volunteer do it! If you are wondering if your donation will make a difference?? Yes! It does. And unfortunately this program is underfunded. So do what you can and be part of the lives of these homeless teens who will be our future someday.
