I began volunteering with the Lake Washington Schools Foundation in 2016. I am an independent college counselor who is bothered by the inequity in education. I am a first-generation student myself (although that title wasn't around when I went to college) and see first-hand how students with means have advantages over other students. I created the Find Your Fit program which offers college support for students and parents. Each year, I put on workshops and webinars on a variety of topics from understanding the college process, alternative paths after high school, and how to write college essays. The Foundation's board and staff are dedicated to academic access and the mental health needs of our community. I could not offer the programs I do without the support of the Lake Washington Schools Foundation. The Foundation is very thoughtful in its actions; I have a great deal of respect for the LWSF.
