Being a part of Reclaim13 has been such a life changing experience. It is a healing community for all involved, staff and participants. The staff are compassionate and understanding, who teach and establish healthy relationships. These relationships are crucial with teaching the program participants how to interact with peers, develop communication skills and ways to resolve peer to peer conflict in a healthy way. The relationship our participants establish with our Survivor Advocates are one of the first healthy adult attachments in their life. The Survivor Advocate helps facilitate many opportunities to develop a wide variety of life skills through daily group therapies ranging from topics such as budgeting, self expression through the arts, and individual therapies twice a week. There are so many fun events throughout the calendar year that include in community engagement events and parties where the program participants gain knowledge on how to serve others and host events. Cant forget the chance to learn and engage in water sports ,field trips to museum/ tourist attractions in the Chicago land area, learning to try and prepare new recipes. It is an honor to be a part of Reclaim 13!
