I'm so grateful to have found Save The Horses when I moved down to GA, and I've had the privilege to volunteer there now for almost 1.5 years. Cheryl Flanagan and all of the volunteers (at both rescue farms) work tirelessly to take care of the horses (and other rescued animals). Many of the animals come from abusive or neglected situations and STH nurses them back to life, shows them love and gives them a safe and beautiful place to live. They also work to re-home as well.
In May 2023, STH rescued a 4 year old mare and her 12 week old filly from a kill pen. Yes, someone brought a 3 month filly to a kill pen. The mare was emaciated from starvation while still nursing her little baby. Cheryl and the volunteers nursed them both back to health and taught them to trust humans again. Three months later, I adopted them and they are thriving at their new barn.
