The ACAPL has really been trying to upgrade with the limited space available to them. They have recently upgraded their kennels and cat cages, and are rearranging areas for better work flow. The animal areas seem much cleaner and certainly smell much better than when I was a volunteer in 2018. The volunteer recruitment is an active on-going process with certification offerings. They have added a trailer for a more home-like get-to-know -you area, as well as a quiet, temperature and draft controlled place for the more unusual pets like reptiles and rabbits. It is obvious that the staff really care for the animals. I have always had rescue animals when getting a pet.
