As a volunteer and friend of the garden, I have to say I love Food For the Cure. Andrew, our founder's, story was very inspiring to me, as I also have a mom who was terminally ill. What he has done in her memory is very noble, and it benefits not only the many wonderful patients we serve, but us volunteers as well. The garden fosters a friendly environment where people can come and enjoy the outdoors, getting their hands dirty, and learn about growing great organic food, while knowing their efforts are towards an amazing and tangible cause. Andrew, his wife Molly, and everyone else are also all very understanding of shifting time commitments. They are flexible and work closely with volunteers to help meet their scheduling needs, so that the garden can continue to be bountiful without it negatively impacting people's lives outside it. They are also unendingly respectful of their beneficiaries. They communicate with them about preferences regarding what foods they would enjoy, what we should grow, and how we can respect their privacy. Knowing this group has made my life so much richer and happier. I am lucky to know them.
