I have known of & been involved with 2 nonprofits serving the Lakota people in South Dakota, and One Spirit is by far the best in my mind, because their priority is not only to work on infrastructure to help the people live better lives, but also to preserve the Lakota culture. One Spirit's programs extend to youth programs such as the horse spirit camps; providing kids with the opportunity to attend summer camp programs at Camp Marrowbone, on the CheyenneRiver Reservation; the youth employment programs that offer youth 18+ an opportunity for employment in places like northern Minnesota and Hampton beach, NH. There is an emphasis on helping the people help themselves, rather than having One Spirit step in and "do" the programs. The people of One Spirit are dedicated, caring people.
