I have been privileged to be associated with the work of Edu-GIRLS for over three years as a supporter and now over a year as a Board Member. I have been most impressed by the methodology and approach that Edu-GIRLS has perfected in the delivery of it's mission of transforming the lives of girls growing up in urban poverty. Following a multi-year pilot with one school, it identified all the obstacles that come in the way of the low enrollment and attendance and high drop out rates of girls' schooling and then has strived to address each of these obstacles in its interventions. The efficacy of its approach has been validated by an independent entity, and it is heartening to note how much of a difference it has made in the lives of the girls, both economically and in their social standing in their families and communities. What is particularly appealing is its focus on ensuring that the girls don't just get the benefit of a quality education but that they are placed in meaningful jobs and careers, thus taking them to financial independence and empowered citizenry. I salute the dedication of our teachers, administrators and volunteers who help make this happen.
