Our entire family would like to thank Veterans Airlift Command for their outstanding service to us and our nations Veterans.

I was attending the Legion of Valor Convention in Washington DC., with my Father, a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, when he fell and fractured his hip. He had surgery and a couple of complications that resulted in a 2 week hospital stay and included some physical therapy in Arlington Virginia.

He lives in Laughlin Nevada, and I was trying to figure out how I was going to maneuver him through the airport and onto a plane for the 5-hour journey into Las Vegas followed by an hour and a half ride home in a car. A Legion of Valor member suggested that I try the VAC. I filled out the request form and was immediately contacted by Jen. She informed me that even though it was a short notice request they would do everything possible to help. I have to say that Jen and Jenna took on my dilemma as their own and worked to quickly resolve the problem. They notified me that our trip would be completed in two legs due to the short timeframe and distance traveled.

On both flights the pilots were amazing! They helped my father into the planes and did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable for the entire flight and that everything at our destinations was taken care of. They treated us like we were the ones doing them a favor.

On both legs we shared the flight with other combat injured service members. It is important to note that the war has been over for years for these service members, but they are still battling injuries and require trips to medical facilities for ongoing treatment and probably will for the rest of their lives. The service provided by Veterans Airlift Command is critical to provide a safe, efficient service for our service members who have given so much for our country. I can't put into words how being able to avoid the normal airport hassle, security lines and boarding process benefitted my Father on his return home.

Veterans Airlift Command saved the day and Jen and Jenna were outstanding to work with. My Father still talks about the flights almost daily. All the people involved from the staff at VAC to the pilots, plane owners and the ground crew were all amazing from start to finish.
