I have volunteered and worked with the independent cat society since I was a teenager. The work that they do is beyond phenomenal. This is no kill shelter. Sick cats, even those who are unadoptable, get treatment and a place to live out their lives. The volunteers are tireless. Thousands and thousands of cats have gotten a second chance through the independent cat society. Volunteers even take sick cats home for treatment until they can be incorporated into the ICS population. They also help people trap, neuter, and return feral cats to help reduce the feral population. They educate people on how to care for colonies. Their work to ensure the humane treatment of animals improves the lives of cats, humans, and communities. This is the most amazing organization with which I have ever worked.
