I learned about Community Matters a few years ago through a friend. I am an Auntie who worries for the youth of our times. I was happy to hear about the Safe School Ambassador programs which were being taught and trained nationwide. This gave me such hope, in what has seemed like a continuous trend of unsafe behavior and violence in schools and our communities. It is truly programs like this that can empower students, parents, educators & community members to reclaim their schools as safe, nurturing environments, leading students with the tools to navigate the ever changing world and to lead by shining their inclusive compassion and strength to strive for safety and building community. Recently the opportunity arose to join the fantastic team at Community Matters. The whole team is kind, knowledgable, and passionate about the mission and vision of this organization. I am grateful for the opportunity to be of service; I look forward to learning, growing and being another member of a team who is participating in some of the most important work for our children and communities.
