Review for Give a Dog a Home Rescue, Sebec, ME, USA
I wasn’t looking to adopt a dog yet because I had just moved back to NYC with my parents. I was just window shopping, because I knew I’d eventually move out into my own place and would absolutely get a dog then. Well, I saw Dakota (who was named Sandy Cheeks) on one of these adoption sites. I fell in love but even then I held off. She’s so beautiful and I knew she would get adopted quickly and hopefully to a good home. I’ve never had a dog but I’ve dogsat for weeks for other people, one of whom has 3 Australian Shepherds and a Border Collie. I kind of stalked Sandy to see when she got adopted. Well, a couple of weeks went by and she was still there. I loved the photos and videos that Jenny posted up of her. After that, I started researching vets in the area, dog parks, dog runs, registering a dog, etc. Everything seemed workable so I put an application in on a Sunday night. The app was long and thorough, which made me feel better that Jenny was really taking time to vet people. Monday afternoon, Jenny called me and said she had spoken to all my references and I had been approved! I drove 7 1/2 hours up to Maine that following Saturday to pick her up, named her Dakota, and drove back home. Jenny was so helpful, telling me about pet insurances, and supplements and vaccinations. Dakota clearly loved her so Jenny must have treated all the dogs well. I have absolutely no regrets, this has been the best moment of my life and I can’t imagine living without my little Dakota. I will definitely recommend everyone to check out her rescue if they need to adopt and make the trip to pick up your furbaby because it’s totally worth it! I am planning on donating to her regularly, because she is a one-woman show and that deserves so much respect.
