Diamond and The Rough is a stellar organization. They definitely live up to their mission statement. I am a volunteer and a grand parent of one of the mentees and have seen up close and personal the impact that this organization has had on the community through the mentoring, leadership and career coaching and family enrichment programs. My granddaughter who has been a member of the program since she was 3 years old, definitely has grown more confident and is not afraid to openly display her leadership skills at school among her peers. She speaks up when she sees other students displaying negative behaviors towards other young people and speaks to them about their choices. I think is a positive especially in todays word where it seems easier just to mind your own business. As a grandparent of Sariyah I have gained wisdom participating in all the parent sessions that are offered through DITR. I feel more knowledgeable and informed about what our youth are facing in today's world. I believe the fact that many of the alumni come back and volunteer after college says a whole lot about the impact that the program had on them during their tenure at DITR. That most definitely is a true indication of success and impact. Dr. Nicole and her team are doing an amazing job impacting the community as a whole and I cannot wait to see what the near future holds for this amazing organization. I am so very blessed that my granddaughter and our family as a whole is connected to DITR. May it prosper and continue for decades to come.
