Sanctuary One is a fantastic organization that provides care for rescued animals — both farm animals and pets — that they will keep and care for unless or until the animal is adopted out. They carefully screen potential adopters to make sure the animals will be taken into a safe and loving home to stay. I adopted a puppy from Sanctuary One, and I was impressed by how rigorous the process was, and how far they went to make sure I was the perfect match for that puppy. It is so clear they have the best interest of the animals as their top priority. The puppy I adopted was so obviously well taken care of, and he was a happy boy despite his rough start in life. Sanctuary One staff took such good care of him, and I could tell all of the animals at the farm looked equally well cared for and loved by the staff there. They don’t just feed the animals and leave them alone. They truly care for them. The animals get daily exercise; they get positive reinforcement training as needed; play time is offered. And loads of love! Their environment is kept clean, as are the animals themselves. Their medical needs are attended to. The animals are truly treated as family there, until they find another family who wants to keep them forever. Sanctuary One also cares for the environment and their community. They plant and maintain expansive gardens with the help of volunteers and interns who grow and learn through the process. The vegetables grown are used for the animals and also donated to local food banks. Besides all of that, they offer teaching programs by opening the Sanctuary up to visitors, schools, and other organizations to learn about the animals, and the gardens. So Sanctuary One is a great steward for the animals, the land, and the community at large. I couldn’t be happier or more proud to have worked with such a fine organization to find and adopt the newest member of my family, our sweet puppy Huckleberry Finn!
