Review for Association Of German Shepherd Rescuers Inc, Newport Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

When I retired from daily working I knew I had to find something to do that would give back someway somehow. I knew I was limited in lifting and not strong enough to walk these strong dogs, but I found an opportunity to volunteer as a Transporter for German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, and have been with them for a year now and love every minute. From the inside it is clear this rescue is extremely dedicated to all of the dogs no matter what each dog individually needs. Some dogs come in to GSROC after a horrible past, only partially told by their atrocious heart-breaking emotional and physical condition, but soon they realize they are safe and staring to feel much better.

Many staff/volunteers put in tons of hours working with intense dedication to help these dogs. They overcome all challenges thrown at them to make life better for each and every dog. They work tirelessly day/night, weekdays/weekends to give medical care, training and whatever else the dogs need. The time, effort, expense and old fashion TLC that is invested in each dog is far beyond what the outside world sees, and is extremely commendable. They do this with full commitment to help each dog be ready for adoption and have a healthy happy ever after life with a great new family. The team has a wonderful detailed process to uncover the dogs real personality and match it with the perfect family to make a win-win success story.

I have done 34 transports, of 26 different dogs each with their own personality, and 2 rescues slated for euthanasia at kill-shelters saving their lives, which were my most favorite. I have watched/followed 17 of these dogs go through the GSROC extraordinary process onto their furever homes which makes my day. My part is only a tiny piece of the puzzle but I am honored to be a part of such a great organization.
