Review for The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg, CO, USA
While I wish there wasn’t a need for The Wild Animal Sanctuary to be in existence, I am so happy that it is because it’s a wonderful place for wild animals to live out the rest of their lives in freedom. They have rescued animals from all over the United States and all over the world! Look at their list of rescues, just since 2010: https://www.wildanimalsanctuary.org/rescue-list
One of their most recent rescues was in Puerto Rico. Every animal was rescued and found a home (some at The Wild Animal Sanctuary and some at other sanctuaries), including a goldfish. That’s what makes this place so amazing and special. EVERY ANIMAL, big or small, mattered.
I was lucky enough to attend the Summer Safari Dinner in June and it was one of the most special things I’ve experienced in my life. Eating our dinner and listening to Pat talk about the work they do, while in the presence of about 10 lions in the Lion House, was truly magical. And then, when the lions began "huffing" in response to Pat speaking.... INDESCRIBABLE! A night I will never forget.
If you ever have the chance to visit, you will be in awe of the work they do. Just the walkway alone, allowing visitors to walk above the animals to keep them out of distress, is a testament to the thought and care they put into everything they do for the animals. This sanctuary is truly FOR the animals and NOT for people.
I will support TWAS for as long as I live!
