Hello SDEF Team,
My name is Anuj Kumar Raj, and I am pursuing a Bachelor of Technology at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. Let me introduce myself. I was born and raised in a small village, “Paramdih” which is in the Ranchi District of Jharkhand. My father is a small Farmer and my mother is a housewife. As my domestic environment was not conducive to enough let me do my study in the village. I was sent to R T C Public School Singpur with an integrated hostel in Muri, a small town which 25Km away from my village. I completed my secondary education at this school. Due to my good performance in secondary education, I was sent to study at JVM Shyamali, Doranda, Ranchi. I lived with my elder brother in Ranchi. He always guided me and without him cannot do preparation. I got good friends and teachers who help me at every point during my preparation for JEE. Finally, with the support of everyone( Specially my parent and brother), I succeeded in cracking the JEE Advanced examination. Then luckily, I got admission to Mining Engineering at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. This was where I learned entirely new experiences and skills from the Professors and students. This is Summer in 2023, I got Summer Research Internship Program 2023 at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. I worked on the optimization of blasting parameters with machine learning under the guidance of Prof. B.S Choudhary. I am currently attending 7th Semester Classes and aspiring to work at the intersection of mining technology.

Through the SDEF scholarships, I learned how to help students to pursue their dream with financial support. I would like to say as SDEF has helped me during my academics, I would love to help to needy in any possible way in the future. Nonetheless, I volunteer at Kartavya ( an official IIT(ISM) NGO which provides free quality education to nearby village students and also spread awareness about child marriage, and child labour). I like interacting with the students and people of Basti (the Slum area nearby the college), and it reminds me of my school days in my village.
