Review for Turning Point Center, Houston, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

When I found myself homeless in Austin back in 1992 they had just completed a new six million dollar center and I had occasion to stay there many times. It was fairly regimented, endless lines. You stood in a long line to get in, another long line to get your meal, then you took a shower and stood in another long line for your bedclothes and a bed. The barracks-style room you slept in was always noisy until late in the evening. They woke you early (around 5:30am or so) and you're back standing in line for breakfast. Oatmeal and bread. Then, out the door, no matter what the weather. Good luck finding a job.
When I found myself homeless and without amywhere to go just this last April I found Turning Point wow what a difference I shared a apartmwent with 3 other people the other 2 had just both recently been released from a long (10+ years) stint in jail so they were conditioned to be neat and clean freaks anyways it was night and day from my first stint at being homeless. Turning Point feed you real good 3 times a day and always was putting food out in the courtyard for anyone to take back th their room. The staff also was very nice and they were concerned with getting me back on my feet intead of feeding me and pushing me back out the door every morning.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The best run shelter or I should say apartment living for homeless probably in the whole USA i'ts a one of a kind place.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would turn the ac in the summer down just a few notches to like 72 I think they keep it at 76

Role:  General Member of the Public & I was a homeless person with nowhere to go and Turning Point helped me. .
