Review for Statement Arts Inc, New York, NY, USA
From the moment I first heard about Statement Arts Start Dreaming, I knew it was an opportunity I wanted to be apart of. However, I could’ve never imagined how great of an effect it would’ve had on my life.
Getting into this program truly changed my life for the better. Though Statement Arts is a singing and acting training program for college, it is also a program filled with so much wisdom and advice for your future. Advice that truly transformed my mindset in only a month.
Coming out of Junior Year, I was lost. I was extremely anxious about my future and all the responsibilities that come along with growing up.
Statement Arts taught me to find peace in uncertainty, trust myself, trust others, and follow my dreams. The teaching artists, especially founder and acting coach Ms. P, taught me that life is never stagnant, but you will find your peace and create your own definition of success. She’s ingrained so many positive affirmations in my brain that has given me the motivation to take charge of my life, and my future that after junior year, I thought I would’ve never found again. She allowed me to find my spark and love for performing again.
Besides allowing me to take charge of my life again and transforming my mindset, Statement Arts gave me my first ever vocal lessons from an amazing vocal coach Barnaby Reiter, gave me one of a kind acting training allowing me to truly feel and become in touch with my body as an instrument thus strengthening not only my monologues, but my songs too. It strengthened my performance skills to an insanely large extent.
I wrote and completed my college essay in this program, spoke with a beautiful Social Worker Valerie who led incredible writing classes every morning, a college admissions counselor who helped me revise my essay, I worked with a composer and music director, Andre, who taught me so much about sheet music and dynamics. I also worked with a communications team, Clarity Media, who gave me advice on self tapes, college interviews, and overall communication skills in regards to filler words and body language. I was gifted a free broadway show, unlimited metro cards, sheet music for college auditions, and not to mention, a wonderful lunch every single day!
When I tell you that the entire Statement Arts team will become your family, I mean it. And they are a forever one. Beyond the summer program. We have a WhatsApp groupchat that is still active to this day. The team says how much they love us all the time and it’s so sincere. When school starts back up, I will be given a mentor that will aid me along the college and financial aid application process!! I just cannot emphasize how wonderful, fulfilling, and enlightening this program was. It’s a program every teen should take part of, and I am eternally grateful for my new family and all the wisdom they gave me.
