After having done parrot rescue myself for over 40 years I sadly know the fate of most parrots kept as pets and to say the staggering number of cruelty cases, neglect and amount of rehoming is at a heart wrenching high number is an understatement. Parrots are not like domesticated animals, they fall under the category of being exotic animals therefore they do not give unconditional love, they are expensive to care for both in diet and specialized veterinarian care and can be quite loud and messy. Having known Michael and Dianne Cox for many years now and having brought some very difficult cases to them which most likely would have been euthanized if Global Nest Sanctuary didn’t exist it’s nothing short of astonishing to see the transformation they somehow accomplish with all the parrots in their care. I visit as often as possible making the 13 hour round trip drive and honestly I don’t know how they work their magic. They are kind enough to invite me to stay in their home treating me like family and all I can say after all my years of experience with parrots is I believe that while I’m asleep they wave their magic wand because nothing that happens at Global Nest Sanctuary is short of a miracle and this amazing one of a kind parrot sanctuary is deserving of as many donations as can be given no matter how small since the amount of money raised doesn’t come close to the sacrifice both Michael and Dianne have made in time and money to keep their dream of rescuing parrots alive. I will be forever grateful for the work that they do along with the few dedicated volunteers that they have. Jill ❤️
