NICA is not just a mountain biking race for middle and high school athletes. It is also a life preparation vehicle for my children. Through NICA, my son and daughter found who they can become and how they reach their true potential in life. Mountain bike racing is not easy from any point you look at it, but it us that much rewarding. My son, Garid, 13, made this comment on the first race of this season, "- dad, it really is my head that controls this body, not the other way around. If I can convince my brain to be strong and continue to pedal fast, the rest of my body follows." This is the very point that I hoped he would truly understand and feel some day, but he already realized it sooner than I expected. He found this concept of he controls his own destiny by doing the required hardwork by numerous team practices rides throughout the practice season. He came in On the other hand, my daughter loves to win everything she does, but she understood the fact the winning does not come without both consistant hard work and strong mind. I told my daughter Gunj, 13, "to win, everybody has to their part in their team / family. She has to be strong minded and committed to difficult training." These are life long lessons that my children are gaining from NICA, mountain bike racing. Las Vegas, NV.
