I’ve volunteered at Feathered Friends off and on for many years but to be honest this is the first time I’ve wanted to leave a review, at least a good one. Things have changed a lot over the last year or so but tremendously in the last month.

When I first started coming out I dealt with a nasty old hag that was rude, smelled bad and was so lazy that I didn’t want to come back but I liked the birds so I decided to try again. I ended up working another volunteer who was really pleasant, worked hard and you could tell she was trying to make a difference. I decided to continue coming out after that day and try to work with her. I didn’t realize that she only came on weekends so I ended up with Miss Nasty Pants who made the whole experience miserable. At the time I didn’t know that the other lady only worked on the weekends so I made sure to schedule myself to come out on the weekend.

Recently I returned to the rescue to volunteer and found out Miss Nasty Pants wasn’t with the rescue anymore and I was so excited! When I walked out on the porch it was like I was in a different place. The floors were swept, bowls were nice and shiny and the cages were clean. I helped out feeding and watering, and then got to spend several hours just playing with the birds.

I can’t tell you how happy I am to know that the rescue is in such good hands now. With someone who really loves the birds and takes care of them like they should. Feathered Friends is an amazing place now and they are doing a lot of clean up now so I can’t wait to see all the improvements when I come out next!!!
