Review for The Samfund, Boston, MA, USA
The SAMFund has helped me tremendously with my attempt to move forward after surviving cancer as a young adult. This is one of the very few organizations I have found to help reenter life after fighting for my life. I was a 32 year old single working mother whose life came to a screeching stop when I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was very lucky. With very aggressive treatment I was able to put my cancer in remission. Unfortunately cancer doesn't stop the bills from piling up. I still had to support myself and my child. I paid all of the necessities, however, I had to deplete my savings, 401K and even ask family and friends for help. I was able to maintain my residence and go back to work but even 2 1/2 years later, it is very difficult. I am very proud of everything I've been through and overcome. The SAMFund has helped me so much get back on my feet. After applying for a grant from the SAMFund late last year, I was able to breathe a bit better financially when they called to inform me I was approved. There are so many great organizations out there to help others in need but for me, I will do what I can to spread the word to my fellow cancer survivors about the SAMFund to help them raise money and awareness.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
this organization was targeted to my age group. With such a long life ahead of me, I can transition much easier into a normal life.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
so excited to help me and others.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
help so many other young adults move forward after fighting cancer.
