The world is going through a period of moral crisis. A spectrum of collectivist ideologies assert moral supremacy over individualism. Every person needs a moral code because life requires choices and those choices, if they are not to be a random collection of actions, require a code of values. Any Rand’s development of an ethics based on man’s nature and the use of reason as the fundamental tool for advancing his life was a revolutionary insight. My discovery of Rand’s ideas in her heroic vision of man’s potential in her novels and in her non-fiction writing when I was in college in the 1960’s had a huge positive impact on my life. By promoting the philosophy of reason, individualism, achievement, and freedom originated by Ayn Rand, the Atlas Society provides an essential moral foundation for the wide range of organizations involved in the growing freedom movement. Since becoming the CEO in 2016, Jennifer Grossman has taken full advantage of the communication revolution enabled by the growth of the Internet. Although not a large organization, TAS is having an outsize impact in reaching out to young people through the creative use of a wide range platforms that include animated videos, graphic novels, social media, and both virtual and live events.
