Few other nonprofits get their hands dirtier than Military Missions In Action. Every day their volunteers are walking alongside Veterans and their families to provide them the support they deserve.

On a recent visit to delivery furniture and other home furnishings to a Veteran in Rowan County, I was bringing his bed into his room when I noticed a several bike tire repair kits on the floor. When I asked what they were for, the Veteran shared that the air mattress he'd been sleeping on had developed several holes. He has attempted to patch the holes no less than a half dozen times because he hated waking up every morning on the floor, due to the slow leaks.

MMIA is able to help Veterans like this only because of generous supporters and dedicated volunteers. Despite only having a full-time staff of three individuals, they were able to assist 4,508 Veterans and their families in 2022. Additionally, MMIA sends $0.90 of every $1.00 donated directly to programming. You'd be hard pressed to find another organization that runs more efficiently or effectively, while still maintaining that personal touch with the Veteran community.
