Review for Glsen Inc, New York, NY, USA
I have been volunteering with GLSEN for nearly 10 years and became a Board member last year. GLSEN is the pre-eminent organization dealing with anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools. Tragically, the need for GLSEN was no more evident than the tragic loss of young lives last Fall due to anti-gay bullying in schools. And it was re-enforced with the homophobic language displayed by top NBA stars over the past few weeks.
GLSEN has forged strong relationships and reputations with most of the national education associations, the Obama administration, the Ad Council, and the NBA to ensure that homophobic language and harassment have no place in our nation's schools. Every child deserves a safe and respectful place to learn.
I have volunteered for a number of organizations and served on numerous Boards. GLSEN is far and away one of the top non-profits I've served with.

Increase its fundraising capacity in order to scale it so that it could have even more impact on the grassroots and national levels.

I have been involved with GLSEN for over 6 years now. I've seen GLSEN grow from a struggling grassroots organization to a prominent voice on issues facing LGBT youth in schools. The programming, training, and research the organization provides is world-class. The staff and volunteers are truly dedicated and loyal to the mission and vision.

look for more ways to engage and coordinate the work of the local chapters; partner with parents and school leaders; and engage more youth.

provide the appropriate level of staffing and training/tools necessary to fully support the local chapters and extend its work to those communities and youth most in need.

this is a great organization and is on the cusp of doing some really profound things for LGBT youth across the country.
