ETP instructed my high school freshman class in 2019. The class completely changed my image of being a parent. Before the course, I had decided that I wouldn’t get married or have kids because my only representation of a family at the time was my broken home. The workbook dived into topics like healthy relationships; the qualities you are looking for in someone you are dating, marrying, and co-parenting with. I had never even considered the difference between the three. Then the workbook had this prompt that asked how you would feel if you were to never become a parent. The question made me heartbroken because I have always loved kids, and I couldn’t imagine never being a mom. 4 years later I still have my workbook. I have felt the first-hand, lasting impact of ETP and how much it has positively impacted my peers and other teens.
