GFD is a great idea and means well. They do care very well for their charges. However, they’ve allowed my elderly stepmother to adopt dogs she is not prepared for (and that her husband does not want). Under no circumstances should an elderly couple of 80+ years old be allowed to adopt a puppy. I am still completely dismayed that my stepmother was allowed to adopt a puppy (a puppy who had been returned at least once because he is such a handful) after one visit- and that one visit was after she had committed to adoption, basically to pick him up. He has chewed up and destroyed a number of their appliances and furniture, and of course she won’t consider rehoming him. This has been a nightmare, so I hope perhaps this review will make them reevaluate their adoption process.
