Review for Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE, Milwaukee, WI, USA
Almost Home Cat Rescue MKE stands above others for a few reasons. They are an all volunteer shelter and all monies are used for the care of the kitties. The shelter takes in strays, non-socialized kitties, abused, injured and very sick cats to include FIV and FELV diagnosed kitties. They have a Behaviorist that can help the fosters with the care of the rescues. They also work with people that are having behavior issues with their own cats and who want to work with them so as not to surrender them. Because helping kitties with behavior and shelter related stresses, they have a cage free environment within their shelter. The cats have large areas to roam and interact almost as much as being in a home.
This organization also does outreach to other rescues with supplies, funding and assistance in trapping, feeding and getting information out to people that can assist. There is a pantry at their location and if people find they are in need of assistance with food and other supplies, they can stop in at their location and receive products that can get them through tough situations.
They also do community outreach by partnering with other shelters to take in adoptable kitties, kitties that would probably be euthanized because of lack of funds or lack of resources to work with non-socialized kitties, and those with FIV and FELV so that they can be placed in loving homes. They also take adoptable cats out of shelter facilities and adopt them through Almost Home when shelters are overburdened with surrenders.
They team up with other businesses to promote their particular products and services while also promoting the shelter and it's needs.
