We have adopted 2 dogs from the Southlake Petsmart location over the years and both have been very sick. Our first had an overwhelming amount of worms, 5 different types that required a significant amount of care. He was sold to us as in good health but within days he was overcome with the worms inside his little puppy body.

We went through their recommended vet who was unable to get him well and ultimately had to turn to our own vet for treatment.

Our second dog arrived with a severe case of pneumonia that was not disclosed. Because we took the dog immediately to our vet (the puppy was in a coughing fit at 4 in the morning) , the rescue group said they would not cover the full amount of her medical care. We paid 300 for the dog and 800 for vet bills. Lost Paws offered us 400 even though they sold us a sick dog.

Now we have to monitor our other pets because pneumonia is very contagious. Not to mention 2 weeks of nurturing a sick puppy.

The rescue owner said we could return the dog but we are not going to do that. I'm concerned she wanted us to return a highly contagious sick puppy to petsmart during an adoption day, but that is kind of indicative of their organization I guess.

I am disappointed that our newest addition is so sick, and I'm disappointed that this group refuses to make us financially whole when they sold us a dog that was sick. Twice.

The rescue group owner said we should have used their vets however how can you do that at 4 in the morning when you have a sick puppy. We are being penalized for emergency care from a dog that was sick when they were responsible for it.

Worried about my dog and sad about this whole process.
