Review for Best Robotics Inc, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

I participated in BEST Robotics as a high school student. I had no idea what engineering was. I remember going to the Texas Instruments and Raytheon Saturday Help Sessions where senior engineers helped us with our robots. We didn't know what servo motors were, and the volunteers patiently explained and helped us through the process.
I remember going to the first year of the competition at the University of Dallas. Our team was amazed that the robot competition was cheered on like a college basketball game with bands, cheerleading squads, and school mascots. This experience was invigorating. In our third year of the competition, my team made it to semi-finals.

I strongly believe that my experience with BEST Robotics was the reason I decided to pursue engineering. I went on to major in Aerospace Engineering at MIT.

After graduating, I returned to Dallas, Texas to work as an Aerospace Systems Engineer at Raytheon. I regularly volunteer with BEST as a team mentor, judge, and referee.

Increase publicity. This is an amazing event and more schools and students should learn about it so they can participate.

More publicity.

I am inspired by the other volunteers and their dedication and commitment. I also got to know many new co-workers this way.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

I love BEST Robotics and I try to tell all of the students I can to get involved.

Role:  Volunteer & I regularly volunteer with the middle and high school BEST Robotics Competition as a team mentor, judge, and referee. I have worked with hundreds of students to build robots and encourage them to pursue careers in math, science, and engineering.
