Review for Ceres Community Project, Sebastopol, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a volunteer, I was part of preparing ingredients to be used in the meals, followed research based and chef created recipes to make meals, mentored teens in preparing and packaging meals, and worked in the Sebastopol organic garden. Meals were delivered by volunteers directly to people who are homebound with serious illnesses. It is my understanding that this mission has expanded to people who are food insecure.I also mentored teens who were part of a grant-funded program wherein they taught elementary school children what constituted healthy food, how to use kitchen utensils safely, how to follow recipes and prepare dishes in after school programs. During Sonoma county fires, kitchens opened early for the chefs and volunteers to prepare meals that were delivered to evacuees. And all of this was executed with professionalism,, and passion for the mission. Due to my own health issues, I am no longer able to volunteer, but I continue to support this amazing organization though monthly donations.

From the inside out, Ceres nourishes and heals. First I volunteered, learning about how to prepare, cook, and package amazing organic meals. I got to work with masterful chefs and brilliant teens. Volunteering in the garden with wise gardeners and motivated teens exercised my body, mind and soul. And when I got sick, I was able to receive these healing meals. Turmeric and kale are now my best friends, and I am forever grateful for the Ceres experience.
