Undeniable excitement that filled me when I received the news that I had been awarded the Educational Pathways International (EPI) scholarship for my Doctor of Optometry program at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. As a second year student, I can confidently say that the scholarship has had a significant impact on my life and academics since I joined the program.The EPI scholarship has moulded and transformed my life in numerous ways, particularly by giving me the opportunity to receive quality education in Optometry without financial burden. This has helped me to focus more on my studies and perform exceptionally well academically. Additionally, the scholarship has exposed me to different cultures and has enabled me to interact with students from various programs. It has also broadened my knowledge and horizons.I chose Doctor of Optometry program because of my passion for vision care and the desire to provide quality eye care services to people in my community. The EPI scholarship has given me the platform to develop my skills and knowledge in this field, which is essential in fulfilling my long-term career goal.After school, I intend to use the knowledge and skills acquired through the EPI scholarship to contribute to the development of my community and Ghana as a whole. I am determined to set up a sustainable eye care service in my community that would cater to the needs of the less privileged.I would like to express my sincere gratitude to EPI for the opportunity to be a beneficiary of this life-changing scholarship program. Your generosity has provided me with an enabling environment to achieve my goals, and I am committed to giving back to society in every way possible.
