We had a beautiful kid goat, Peaches, born with a cleft palate. I raised her using human methods for cleft palate babies and she thrived! At six months old it became apparent that her care was going to be way over our abilities physically and financially as a senior couple on small fixed income. After some research we found VIVA RESCUE and reached out. They welcomed her with open arms and barn. About the same time she developed pneumonia and my husband drove all night to get her there. They had a veterinary team waiting. She just celebrated her first birthday a healthy, happy and thriving goat at VIVA. When she is ready they will provide the reconstructive surgery she needs to live out her life as an ambassador for other goats with challenges once thought to be insurmountable.
The facility is clean, well managed and tailored for the exact physical and mental needs of these deserving animals. The volunteers are loving and committed. I can't thank them enough for saving our very precious and amazing Peaches.
