Review for Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI), Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I interned with EESI and found it to be an incredibly rewarding experience. The team is highly knowledgeable on a wide range of sustainability topics, and they specialize in breaking down complex information into accessible content. I appreciate how they tailor their communications approach to diverse audiences—be it the general public or a Hill staffer.

In addition to the amazing team, I consider one of EESI’s greatest strengths to be its role as a reputable informer and influencer. The team knows how to drive systemic change and positively influence the sustainability and environmental policy landscape. This is something so critically needed, especially as more companies, governments, and the public want to implement systemic solutions—and just need more information and guidance to do so.

On a personal note, my internship with EESI was instrumental to advancing my sustainability career. During my time with EESI, I gained valuable insights and experience on how to interpret, communicate, and influence environmental policy. I now work in corporate sustainability communications and engagement, which involves working at the intersection of sustainable business, policy, marketing, engineering, and more. Even now, I find myself drawing back to my EESI experience.

*They also pay their interns, which is something that many organizations don’t do. This is how EESI supports the next generation of sustainability changemakers—by not just providing an outstanding internship experience, but also making it more accessible and inclusive to more students.
